When I think back on Jennifer & Calvin’s Casa Real Wedding in Pleasanton, I’m instantly transported to a day filled with heartfelt moments, timeless style, and whimsical details. Casa Real is one of the few Bay Area venues that can host over 200 guests—making it a natural choice for couples planning a big celebration. But what makes it truly special is the European-inspired architecture and lush greenery that offer the same editorial elegance I often see at luxury wineries in Napa, Sonoma, and Saratoga’s Montalvo Arts Center.
A Chic, Fashion-Forward Vision

Jennifer and Calvin opted for something fresh and modern: instead of a traditional bridal party, they gathered an “I Do Crew.” Each woman wore a pastel dress in different shades, textures, and silhouettes. It was fashion-forward, playful, and editorial, a reflection of their personalities and a dream to photograph.
Jennifer’s look was effortlessly chic, thanks to hair and makeup artist Kristina Curtis (@bykristinacurtis), who created a polished yet romantic style that paired beautifully with her simple, elegant gown. Her two-tier veil, with a fingertip blusher layer, became the perfect prop for portraits, floating gracefully in the vineyard breeze.

Calvin’s emotions told the story best—he cried during their first look and again as she walked down the aisle. It was a reminder that a first look doesn’t take away from the magic of that moment; it often adds to it.

Whimsical Pastel Florals & Thoughtful Details
The florals by Esther Wang of Celestial Petals (@celestial_petals) mirrored the softness of the season: light purples, soft pinks, and airy pastels that felt whimsical yet refined. Every arrangement contributed to the romantic, garden-inspired aesthetic.

One of the most unique touches I’ve ever seen was their seating chart. Instead of escort cards, Jennifer and Calvin displayed postcards from their travels. Each guest received a handwritten note from the couple—a deeply personal gesture that set the tone for an intimate, thoughtful celebration even within such a grand setting.

Their beloved Shiba Inu also made an appearance, which added such a sweet, personal touch. Pets at weddings always bring out genuine joy—and photographing those moments is one of my favorite things.

The Celebration
Behind the scenes, planner Tammy Cheng of Beets Hospitality Group ensured the entire day flowed smoothly, with Fantasy Sound providing rentals that set the tone for an elegant reception. Guests danced the night away thanks to DJ Woody Miraglia of Big Fun Disc Jockeys, who kept the energy high. And instead of just cake, everyone was treated to a fun surprise—Pints of Joey (@pintsofjoyicecream) brought in artisanal ice cream that delighted guests of all ages.

With so much love and intention poured into their day, Jennifer and Calvin were understandably nervous about timing. But together we created a timeline that flowed beautifully. Not only did we capture every moment they envisioned, we even had buffer time built in so they could simply soak in their celebration without stress.

For me, that’s the heart of wedding photography: not just delivering timeless images, but also creating the space for couples to feel fully present while I handle the logistics.
A Taste of Europe in the Bay Area
Casa Real gave Jennifer and Calvin the perfect backdrop: sweeping vines, elegant stonework, and a reception space that feels grand yet intimate.

For couples who dream of a European-style wedding close to home, Casa Real offers that balance. And for those looking further afield, many of these design elements translate seamlessly to luxury winery venues in Napa, Sonoma, or estates like Montalvo Arts Center in Saratoga.
