Golden Light, Vineyard Views, and a Whole Lot of Love

There’s something about a Copain Winery wedding in June that makes everything slow down. The light softens. The breeze feels calmer. And when you’re standing on a hilltop surrounded by loved ones? That’s the kind of magic that lingers. G and J’s Copain Winery wedding in Sonoma County captured that feeling perfectly.
A Calm, Intentional Morning at a Sonoma Estate
The day began at a nearby estate, where Grayson and Jeffrey got ready separately with their closest people. Grayson slipped into her dress in a quiet suite filled with soft light and sweet energy.

There were hugs, deep breaths, and a few happy tears. Meanwhile, Jeffrey shared sweet moments with his family and his calm energy set the tone for the day. It was the kind of morning that reminded me how sacred and beautiful the getting ready moments can be.

Intimate Copain Winery Ceremony Overlooking the Valley
Copain Winery isn’t flashy, and that’s exactly why it’s special. Tucked above the Russian River Valley, it feels like your own hidden escape. That day, sixty guests gathered beneath a big, beautiful tree to watch Grayson and Jeffrey say “I do.” With sweeping views behind them and a soft breeze dancing through the air, the ceremony felt incredibly grounded. Their vows were thoughtful and intentional — the kind that made you laugh one minute and tear up the next.

As the light shifted from sun to cloud and back again, it created a soft, ever-changing glow. As a photographer, I had to stay present and responsive. The changing skies in wine country keep you on your toes, but that’s part of the magic. You adapt, and in doing so, you capture something honest.
Heartfelt Moments and Glowing Portraits
Grayson and Jeffrey, both attorneys, brought so much calm and kindness to the day. Jeffrey’s pride in his UCLA roots made our connection even better. Together, they’re food lovers with a soft spot for ice cream — and they care deeply about being present.

They chose to stay with their guests during cocktail hour, which made the whole afternoon feel warm and connected. Later, as golden hour approached, we stepped away for portraits. The light wrapped around the vineyard hills like a warm blanket. It was soft, golden, and absolutely worth the wait.

We moved efficiently, never keeping them from their celebration for long. The portraits we captured during that time are some of my favorites — authentic, glowing, and full of joy.

Dinner, Dancing, and the Little Details
Their dinner setup was both simple and elevated. Green floral napkins added a fresh, stylish detail that brought the tables to life. Green is definitely having a moment, and it fit the vibe perfectly. Their choreographed first dance made everyone smile, and Jeffrey’s dance with his mom left the room a little misty.

As a Sonoma County wedding photographer, my goal is always to capture how the day felt. For Grayson and Jeffrey, that meant documenting not just the views, but the warmth, the laughter, and those quiet in-between moments that make weddings unforgettable.

Grayson and Jeffrey — thank you for inviting me into your world. Your winery wedding was filled with heart, and I’ll never forget it.
